This assignment will help you evaluate some of the significant historical figures during the American Gilded Age. It will also help you evaluated their backgrounds, businesses, political influences, and understand what contribution they have made on America socially, politically and economically. Many things they have done can even have an effect on your lives today in the twenty-first century, both good and bad. As you are working on this assignment, keep in mind to answer questions such as "Why where these men important?" and "How did their history impact and influence my life today?"
After watching the required video and reading the text, students must identify each of the following element. Comment on how these elements can influence you and the society you live in today. Some helpful hints would be asking yourselves questions like: What outcome would have been different if Nikola Tesla didn't leave Edison to patent his AC lightbulbs? How would you travel to the moon if the Wright Brothers hadn't succeed in building their first plane? What would your house and city buildings be made out of if Carnegie didn't invest in steel production? Direction and Requirements: 1.) For the "Who" box, you must have at least three (3) defining information about your chosen industrialist. 2.) For the "What" box, you must have at least five (5) information. 3.) For the "Where" box, you must have at least one (1) information about your chosen industrialist location. (Preferably the location of their businesses.) 4.) For the "When" box, you must fill in at least two information (2) about when did they go into businesses. 5.) For the "How" box, you must have at least one (1) information. 6.) For the "Why" box, you must have at least three (3) information on why this industrialist did what he did and why was he important.. If you need help, there is a sample of what your Concept Wheel assignment will look like located to the left of this screen when it is completed. You may add more information about your chosen Gilded Age historical character to your chart, but no less that what is required.
